FAQ

Do you offer free consultations?
Yes. All of our therapists offer a free 20–30 minute telehealth consultation. This meeting gives you a chance to get a sense of the therapist’s style and to see whether you feel comfortable, understood, and supported. It also allows the therapist to make sure they have the skills and clinical experience needed to be helpful to you.

We are out-of-network with all insurance companies.
Many of our clients use out-of-network benefits to receive partial reimbursement for therapy. We provide monthly superbills that you can submit to your insurance company. You are also welcome to use a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to pay for sessions.

When should a couple go to couples therapy?
A couple should consider therapy when they’re feeling stuck in repeating conflicts, disconnected, or unsure how to communicate without tension. Many partners come in not because of a crisis, but because something in the relationship feels off or harder to navigate. Couples therapy offers a structured, supportive space to slow down, understand underlying dynamics, and reconnect with more clarity and care.
-
When should I see a therapist?
You might consider seeing a therapist when you feel overwhelmed, stuck in familiar patterns, or unable to sort through your thoughts and feelings on your own. Many people seek therapy not because something is “wrong,” but because they want support, clarity, or a quieter place to understand themselves. Therapy offers a consistent, thoughtful space to explore what’s happening beneath the surface and to find new ways of relating to yourself and others.Description goes here

What should I expect in a first session?
In a first session, we spend time understanding what brings you in, learning about what’s been feeling difficult, and beginning to get a sense of how you experience yourself and your relationships. There’s no pressure to prepare or explain everything at once, we’ll move at your pace. The goal of the first meeting is to create a safe, thoughtful space where you can begin to talk freely and see how it feels to work together.
-
How often will we meet?
We ask our clients to commit to meeting weekly, especially at the beginning, because it helps the work feel steady and connected. Over time, we can talk about what pace feels right for you and the kind of work you’re looking for. The goal is to find a rhythm that allows the therapy to deepen while also fitting into your life.
-
Do you offer therapy for queer, trans, and nonconforming clients?
Yes. We welcome and affirm queer, trans, and gender-nonconforming people. Our clinicians are trained in relational, psychoanalytic, and trauma-informed approaches that center your lived experience. Therapy is a space where your identity, relationships, and inner life are welcomed and explored with care, respect, and curiosity.
-
What if my partner doesn't want to come to couples therapy?
It’s very common for one partner to feel hesitant about starting couples therapy. We often begin by talking about what feels hard or uncertain and trying to understand what each person hopes for.. Therapy doesn’t require perfect agreement at the start- just a willingness to explore what’s happening in the relationship. Many couples find that the first few sessions help them to see the benefits of having help working through stuck places.
-
Do I have to be in crisis to start therapy?
No, you don’t need to be in crisis to start therapy. Many people begin when they feel stuck, curious about themselves, or because they want support as they navigate relationships with partners, friends or family, work, or transitions. Therapy offers a steady place to reflect, understand patterns, and make sense of what’s happening beneath the surface.
